Aberjack, the USEF’s leading sire of event horses for 2011, has now relocated to California. Recent changes at University of Massachusetts’s reproduction center, Hadley Farm, meant that Aberjack was in need of a place to call home for the rest of his years. He was placed with Teresa Groesbeck at Cedarhaven Performance Horses and flew into California mid-September 2011.
In an effort to “pay it forward” to the eventing community, Cedarhaven Performance Horses has donated a free breeding to Aberjack to benefit the Area VI Young Rider Program.
Aberjack was originally picked as a young horse by two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Mark Todd to be his personal mount and breeding stallion, and “Jacko’s” excellent disposition and conformation are as evident today as they were then. Imported from New Zealand to the UK, Aberjack’s success through Advanced is well-documented by British Eventing. After his competitive career, Mark Todd sent Aberjack to Denny and May Emerson’s Tamarack Hill Farm to be part of their strong stallion roster and to be shared with the breeders in the USA; his efforts since then have led him to be the current leading sire of eventing horses in the nation registered with the USEF.
Aberjack has over 40 offspring of competition age, with 14 of them running at FEI levels.
Absolute Liberty, ridden by Buck Davidson in the Pan Am games, is currently the best known. (Bronze individual and Team Gold medals at the Pan Ams)
Courtney Coopers “Whos A Star” just completed Fair Hill 2*. From Aberjoy, Dirtbike and Motocross (embryo transfer brothers), to Abershaq, a local California FEH competitor, Aberjack’s get have covered every level of eventing and represent many breeds.
When asked about their Aberjack offspring, owners “jump” at the chance to explain why these horses are the best ride for amateurs as well as the professionals. From well-loved Jackson and Keys, who passed away this last year, to powerhouses like Abacus, Abra Ka Dabra, and Tridium, and Vitesse, they are all highly regarded by their people.
Aberjack, at age 22, is still sound, fertile, and plays in turnout as if he were still on course.
Aberjack will be standing the 2012 season and beyond to the public.
He is registered with the Oldenburg Breeders Society,GOV,and the New Zealand Sport Horse Registry. One breeding will be auctioned off during the EEHA! Official Presentation of Horses. Additional breedings are available. Please contact the EEHA! secretary for details. |
